Why/What is Pilates?

"Pilates develops the body evenly, corrects bad postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates and uplifts the spirit"

Pilates is a method of strengthening the deep muscles responsible for posture. The deep muscles are the core muscles, which are located between the ribs and the pelvis, and all around the spine (abdominals, pelvic floor and back muscles). They constitute the energy center of the body, which allows us to be stronger and more stable. Pilates is also a discipline that allows you to improve awareness of your body, its strength and its limits in order to use it better.

Who's the Teacher? Elena Tomelden
I am originally from the United States and have lived in France for over 25 years. Initially a figure skater and high-level athlete, my career as a professional skater took me across Europe and the United States. I stopped this profession when I became the mother of my three children. I discovering Pilates for the first time in Australia after this long break from sports. It helped me regained my physical form and my general well-being. After several years of practice, convinced of its effectiveness, I chose to become a teacher myself in order to share my know-how and the benefits of the Pilates. I received my training at Quantum Pilates in Washington DC and hold an CQP-ALS. I have been teaching Pilates since 2011. I provide each of my students with special attention thanks to my experience and my background in skating, dance and fitness. I would be happy to help you define and achieve your personal goals.

Which class should I take ?

Gentle Pilates (Level 1) Like Pure Pilates with more focus on fluidity of movement, proprioception, placement, breathing and stretching. It's gentler on the joints and the sequences are slower. This course is suitable for the elderly, herniated (disc/cervical) people, overweight, reduced mobility, and beginners.

Pure Pilates (Level 2) Classic Pilates with 20 - 34 movements. All levels. 

Power Pilates (Level 3) Advanced course, high level for experienced people, in good physical condition. Fast sequences. Test your Limits!

Men’s Pilates This class is specifically tailored to the needs of men. Are you already sporty but want to improve your game? Have you had injuries and needed to get back on track? Do you suffer from back problems? You need to strengthen your abdominal belt, gain flexibility, rework your entire body in balance. You will be amazed at the progress and comfort in all aspects of your life!

Adapted Pilates This course is suitable for those who are looking for physical activity, and  who need and want to keep  their autonomy and to do good for themselves. Do you have pain everywhere, osteoarthritis, difficulty sitting and standing? Pilates improves your posture, works your balance, maintains your muscle mass and your flexibility gently. This class takes place standing and sitting on chairs.

Classes in the pricacy of your own home or in an adapted location.
